FRATZ International 2026
Festival & Symposium 9 to 15 October
Once again this year, FRATZ International and Offensive Tanz are cooperating to make young dance more visible to Berlin audiences and to exchange views with international trade visitors on artistic-aesthetic and structural questions. From 9 to 15 October 2026, this year's FRATZ Festival with theatre and dance for the youngest will take place in Berlin.
The selection of pieces includes BÄÄÄM – A dance performance for a deaf and listening audience (3+) by tanzfuchs PRODUKTION / Barbara Fuchs from Cologne/Germany, BOSQUE (Wald) – A dance performance for children (2+) by Flores TeatroDanza / Teatro Al Vacío from Mexico and The Sticky Dance – For the youngest (3-5 years) by Second Hand Dance from Great Britain.
Likewise, the dance performance Baobab by Cíntia Rangel & Theater o.N., nominated for the Ikarus Prize 2026 and for the AUGENBLICK MAL! Festival 2027 is on the longlist to be seen at the festival.
FRATZ is also the kick-off for a series of new research projects commissioned by Offensive Tanz:
Offensive Tanz and FRATZ are inviting young audiences to an informal exchange on intergenerational forms of dance on Saturday, 10 October. This event is also the start of our first residency in cooperation with the FELD Theater for young audiences. The artists Lea Martini and Eva-Martina Günther present their research project ‘Ein kreis. almost rund’. Interested parties are invited to discuss various formats and experiences with intergenerational work together.
We are also launching the first studio for artistic research with the youngest, designed by choreographer Renae Shadler and stage designer Camille Lacadée. The studio is a participatory experimental space created before and during the FRATZ Festival, in which the two artists work together with KITA children. On Sunday, 11 October, all trade visitors are invited to a specially designed studio session. You can slip into the role of the co-creating children and then exchange ideas with the artists.
In addition, together with the ASSITEJ International Young Dance Network, we invite you to get to know and exchange ideas at the Junge Tanzhaus Berlin on Monday evening, 13 October.
In addition, the FRATZ symposium will focus on different aspects of accessibility. With the artists of tanzfuchs there will be an exchange about the work for T*taubes and listening audience (10.10.) as well as with the artists of Second Hand Dance about the work for neurodivergentes (11.10.) audience.
The accreditation for trade visitors starts on 15 July and on 31 July the pre-sale for the performances begins.

Accessibility at FRATZ
Theater o.N. and FRATZ International have set themselves the goal of making the program more accessible with each festival. Offensive Tanz is once again providing financial support for this year's FRATZ edition.
In the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Article 30, the right to equal participation of disabled people in cultural life is formulated. As publicly funded organisations, we see it as our responsibility to actively participate in the implementation. We focus on designing our program in such a way that as many people as possible feel invited and can plan their participation in our offers independently. This year, FRATZ International is focusing on T*deaf and neurodivergent audiences and the implementation takes place with a view to these groups of people. contact

People with severe disabilities receive tickets at a discounted price. People with severe disabilities who are dependent on accompaniment receive a free card for them.

Offers for T*taubes audience
Information in German Sign Language (DGS) will be available on the FRATZ website from the end of August.
In the festival edition 2026, there are three pieces that are accessible to T deaf audiences. One of them was specially developed for T deaf and hearing people.

For selected performance dates there will be introductions in German sign language. These will be announced at the end of August. The pieces themselves take place without spoken language and without DGS interpretation. Tickets are currently being withheld for these performances.

Spelling T deaf: The capital letters ‘Taub’ refer to the cultural identity of many deaf people and express their affiliation with the culture and language of Tauber communities. As part of the FRATZ Festival, we chose the spelling “T deaf”. It is intended to make it clear that T*taube humans are not a uniform and compliant group. And it refers to the diverse experiences, identities and prerequisites of Tauber people. Further information can be found at the following link: diversity arts culture
Offers for neurodivergent audiences
In the festival edition 2026, a piece is offered that has been explicitly developed for neurodivergent children*:
The Sticky Dance - For Sensory Groovers (3-7) & for the youngest (3-5) Second Hand Dance | UK
The version for Sensory Groovers on Saturday, 10.10. is exclusively for neurodivergent children and their companions. When booking your cards, please make sure that you belong to the group addressed. Space capacities are very limited here, and we want the offer to reach those for whom it is intended.
For all other pieces there are so-called staging descriptions, which describe the sequence, the sensory stimuli and the character of the performance, so that you can decide for yourself whether the piece is suitable for your family.
Certain performance dates (to be announced at the end of August) are designated as Relaxed Performance. In particular, all those who feel more comfortable in an inclusive atmosphere are invited to these appointments.
*Neurodivergenz, what is it? In short, everyone's brain works differently. The word neurotypical means that a person's brain works the same way as most other people's brains. People who are neurotypical develop skills such as social or organizational skills to about the same extent as others at their age. In contrast, the term ‘neurodivergent’ describes someone who processes information in the brain in a different way. Autistic people with ADHD, for example, are referred to as ‘neurodivergent’. Often, neurodivergent people have an increased sensory perception, a lot of creativity and visual processing skills, so they also need other things such as less irritable environments, more rest or a lot of movement. Unfortunately, in the 2026 edition of the festival, we do not have any offers that are explicitly aimed at blind and visually impaired children. We would be happy to advise you individually, which offers could still be suitable for you.
