Howling Road

On an almost empty stage, four dancers and two musicians reflect on the essentials. On what remains when everything else falls away: The body, the voice and the togetherness.

In Howling Road, they search together for a place to arrive. Couples swirl like a storm on just one square meter; Their feet stomp a rhythm that swells to a polyphonic song. Howling Road is an act of passionate rebellion and an exercise in connectedness – a reminder of the richness and resilience inherent in the body. Through powerful interaction in dance and singing together, Howling Road portrays a group that learns to trust in itself and others.

For Howling Road, De Dansers collaborates with Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter Pitou Nicolaes, whose music is characterized by her multifaceted voice and distinctive compositions.

In this way, the performance becomes a hopeful echo for a world where we may have less but will need each other all the more.

Perceiving
dance is an invitation to train your own resonance skills before visiting the dance piece ‘Shake Shake Shake’. How can I get involved in a dance piece? What does it take for this? Together we tune in to the piece, sharpen our perception and try out movements that can be recognized later in the piece.
